Mythical walks on the Pont d’Espagne

By car or shuttle bus, 7 km from the village you’ll arrive at the gates of the Pont d’Espagne. A car park is available for cars, motorbikes and campervans. A team of mountain experts is on hand every day from 9am to 4pm to welcome you, provide information and maintain the site.

The Pont d’Espagne is an exceptional natural site in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park. It has the honour of being one of the Grands Sites Occitanie. It is the starting point for a number of legendary walks that are a must-see during your visit to Cauterets: Lac de Gaube, Les Oulettes, Le Marcadau and many others.

All our mountain guides are on hand to help you discover some magnificent walks and hikes in a dream setting.

At the Cirque du lys

In March, Cirque du Lys is in top form! The days are getting longer, the snow remains abundant and the slopes are bathed in a unique light. It’s the ideal time to enjoy the best of spring skiing: gentle slopes in the morning, a break on the terrace of the Le 3600 restaurant facing the Pic du Midi, then a descent to the village at the end of the day. With its friendly atmosphere, generous sunshine and quality snow, Le Lys in March is quite simply the best skiing of the season.

La Fruitière

The road is exceptionally open, and access is possible every day from 9.30am to 5pm (depending on snow conditions). You can also get there via the Chemin des Pères de Cauterets or the Raillère, which takes around 3 hours 20 minutes round trip. A wild site in the heart of nature, where you can enjoy walks in the fresh air and take in the scenery, even if you’re accompanied by your faithful four-legged friends.

Fruitière Winter

Lac d’Estom is recommended accompanied by a mountain guide for added safety. Depending on the conditions, the path may be snow-covered with patches of ice, so be sure to bring crampons and poles.
