Welcome to Cauterets

  • Cauterets ski resort, a snowy paradise.

Cauterets ski resort is one of the best kept secrets in France – thanks to its unique microclimate, its snow record is one of the best in the Pyrenees and the world. During 2013 Cauterets was named the snowiest resort in the world. Its season is as long as it is snowy; it is the last station to close in the Pyrenees at the end of April with great snow conditions and the glorious springtime sunshine to boot.

  • Cauterets, Ski and more

Cauterets has something for everyone during the winter months. It has two ski areas each with a different feel and attraction.

The “Cirque Du Lys”  is a natural snow cirque, located above the town of Cauterets and accessed by a 12 minute Gondola ride. This natural bowl offers snow sure high altitude skiing between 1700m and 2400m, with plenty of options for all levels of skier and snowboarder and it is great for families. All runs lead back to the restaurant and sun terrace “hub” which has a veritable buzz to it when the sun is shining and the sun loungers are out welcoming you to sit back and “while away” the hours.

The nearby “Pont D’Espagne” (Spanish Bridge) is a prestigious site in the very heart of the Pyrenees National Park. It is a  “Grand site” within the Occitanie region and during the winter months it takes on a mesmerising fairy-tale state reminiscent of Narnia – snowy paths leading amongst heavy pine forests amidst a backdrop of sublime panoramas and frozen waterfalls. It is an exceptional setting for learning to ski or snowshoe.

  • Ski & Spa

The resort of Cauterets has been famous for its thermal waters since the “Belle Epoque”. So, naturally, it makes perfect sense to combine a day on the slopes with a visit to the contemporary “Les Bains du Rocher” Spa and Well-being Centre which offers indoor and outdoor thermal water bathing whatever the season. The swan neck ducts, massaging bubble beds and underwater massage jets are perfect for tired muscles whilst the hammam, sauna and solarium/ chill out room with its jade brick wall are great for relaxation and tranquil contemplation. Whether you are young or old, relaxing or having fun, this is a must visit sight and a great place to unwind after a hard day on the slopes!

  • Cauterets, a natural gem with a “Belle Epoque” charm.

Surrounded by plentiful pine forests and icy streams that erupt from granite springs, Cauterets has a breath-taking arsenal of natural wonders. It is therefore no surprise that during the late 1800s its thermal spas, fresh mountain air and stunning scenery enticed the gentry and aristocracy of France to come play here and “take the waters”. This “Belle Epoque” left behind a legacy of classical promenades, romantic balconies and awe-inspiring neo-classical architecture, all which ooze charm and elegance.

  • Cauterets, so near, so easy
