Must-see walks

The Spanish bridge
Just 7km from the village, the Pont d’Espagne is an exceptional natural site!
Classified as one of the Grands Sites Occitanie, it is located in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park and is the starting point for the following tours
numerous walks.
Just a 5-minute walk from the car park, you can admire the mythical bridge and its famous waterfall.
Lake Gaube
At an altitude of 1,725 metres, Lac de Gaube is a must-see when you visit Cauterets!
You can also explore the sumptuous Marcadau Valley, Lac des Huats and Oulettes de Gaube, where you’ll be at the foot of the glacier.


Le cirque du Lys
From the village, at 900m, to the crêtes du Lys, at 2,400m.
Come and admire the breathtaking panorama from the orientation table.
A panoramic view of the surrounding peaks awaits you!
For the more sporty, there are downhill mountain bike trails.
Lake Ilhéou
Accessible from the Cirque du Lys via the ski lifts, the Lac d’Ilhéou in the Cambasque valley is a little corner of paradise!
The walk to the Col d’Ilhéou is just as magnificent.
Lake Ilhéou is also accessible from Cambasque.

La Fruitière
A few kilometres from the village, if you head towards Pont d’Espagne, you’ll see the road to La Fruitière on your left. You can also get there via the Chemin des Pères de Cauterets or La Raillère. In that case, it’s around 3 hours 20 minutes’ walk each way. A wild site in the heart of nature, where you can enjoy walks in the fresh air and sumptuous scenery, even if you’re accompanied by your faithful four-legged friends. From the car park at the La Fruitière hotel, you can head to Lac d’Estom. A sumptuous landscape to discover in the heart of the Lutour valley. To get there, allow around 4 hours’ walk each way.

Every summer, the Cirque du Lys ski area is transformed into a Bike Park, giving way to downhill courses in the middle of the mountains.

VIA FERRATA
Take to the air and experience the thrills of the Via Ferrata.
