A veritable jewel in the crown of the Pyrenees, Lac de Gaube boasts turquoise waters and an imposing setting facing the Vignemale, the highest peak in the French Pyrenees. An unmissable getaway for a hike accessible to all.

Practical info

  • The Puntas gondola lift and the Gaube chairlift will be open from 24 May to 28 September from 9.30am to 5pm.
  • The gondola and chairlift are accessible to people with reduced mobility (except electric wheelchairs), as well as to children aged 1 and over and families with pushchairs.
  • Shuttles from the village to the Pont d’Espagne car park are available until 28 September .
  • Nature guides are on hand in July and August, and 7 days a week during the school holidays.

The gondola and chairlift route

  • First we admire the waterfalls along the way
  • Get up high for 12 minutes and admire the scenery from the chairlift

  • We set off from the Pont d’Espagne car park for a 1 hour 15 minute walk .
  • Enjoy all the waterfalls along the way
  • Watch for isards, marmots and the flora of the Pyrenees National Park.
  • We arrive at Lac de Gaube and enjoy the reflection of the Vignemale on the lake.
